ITS232: Fundamental of Database

Dear CS1103A, CS1114B & CS1104C

Please read my instructions below properly. You need to complete this task and make sure you understand clearly all the terms being asked below. Prepare the answers anywhere you prefer because when I ask you to post the answers in our group discussion, you may proceed immediately. Currently, all three groups do not exist in i-Learn Portal. Yeah, you do not exist in the virtual classroom. I need to contact the administrator asking what is going on with the i-Learn first. So, I give you the task first on my blog.

Remember, every answers must come with at least one source from any reference (text book, academic journal, internet, etc). DO NOT COPY DIRECTLY FROM THE SOURCE.

The terms are:

  1. Data
  2. Information
  3. Database
  4. Database Management System (DBMS)
  5. Table/Entity/Relation
  6. Attribute/Field/Column
  7. Row/Record/Tuple
  8. Relationship
  9. Cardinality
  10. Data vs Information
  11. Example of DBMS
  12. What is RDBMS?
  13. What is an ERD? How many notations used in ERD?
  14. What is data redundancy?

That’s all for today. Keep your answers first. More will come especially to cover Chapter 1.
